INTRODUCTION TO THE STUDY OF THE BOOK OF REVELATION
The Book of Revelation is so important to understand, most have such a hard time with all the imagery and symbols because there hasn't been a proper teaching on how to interpret the book over the years in the Church. Most have heard that it is things way off in the future and it's not for today or it has to do with Chinese soldiers and helicopters. But the Lord would have His people to understand that it is a Revelation of Him Ruling and Reigning In Glory right Now. It actually tells you in the first chapter, in the first verse & first 5 words what the book is about it says plainly:
"The Revelation of Jesus Christ" which God gave to Him [Jesus] to show to His bond-servants, the things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: verse2 Who bare record of the Word of God, and of the Testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.
These first two verses in the 1st Chapter help to unlock the entire book and sets the stage to understand the Revelation given to John. Verse two simply tells you that the vision John received bore witness to the Word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. The only Word of God that John had was the Old Testament, and the testimony of Jesus Christ. So the Vision is interpreted through the Old Testament and the testimony of Jesus Christ. It says in the 1st verse that God sent and Signified it to John, which means it is a book of signs and symbols. Greek word 4591 semaino means signify.
Without the help of the Holy Spirit and this proper understanding one will never truly come to unlock the vision, much less understand this Glorious book.
The Vision was given to John while he had been exiled to the Island of Patmos because of the testimony of Jesus and the Word of God. It was given to him to give to the churches because of the Great Persecution that the Church was undergoing at the time. As the Church has endured through generations this book is a testament to the Resurrected Living Christ for the Church to continue to stand in the face of Persecution until Jesus Returns.
As the Church in this final hour before the Lord's return the people of God must come to understand the Revelation of Jesus Christ because of the Persecution that is increasing against her. Knowing that He is Ruling and Reigning and that we his people have been raised up with Him and made to set and rule and reign with Him.
When you truly began to understand this book there is a Holy Divine Strength that is imparted to overcome no matter what you have to endure for His Name Sake...
May the Lords Blessing be added to You as you read, study and meditate on the Living Resurrected Son of God...
Some Pointers and Factors To Know and Remember In The Book Of Revelation
Point # 1 Jesus is ruling and reigning no matter what is occurring in the world around us.
Point # 2 This entire book reveals the glory, the authority and the dominion of our risen glorified savior. In chapters 4-5 alone the word throne appears 17 times. The book runs with the theme of Jesus now upon the throne, that's the theme of the book. Jesus now ruling and reigning upon the throne as King of Kings as supreme Lord of lords over all and all circumstances now are in His hand.
Point # 3 This book was written to Christians for all times from the first century Christians up to our present day. It is written from the standpoint of what Jesus uttered on the cross "It Is Finished". This happened in the mind of God at end of time. At the end of time Christ Appeared to take away sin. At the end of the Age Christ died and suffered for us.
Point # 4 The Symbols are so simple that only Christians can understand it. The Book of the Revelation of Jesus is a reflection of all the other books of the bible. There are 66 Books in the bible. All 65 Books are included in this last Book. The heathen and the hard hearted can read this Book and will never understand it. Because it is written in one gigantic parable. Everything that's written in this Book is written from the aspect of the finished works of Calvary and Jesus now resurrected and reigning.
