Leave The Past Behind

River in the desert
Isaiah 43:14-19
14 Thus says the LORD your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, “For your sake I have sent to Babylon, And will bring them all down as fugitives, Even the Chaldean’s, into the ships in which they rejoice. 15 “I am the LORD, your Holy One, The Creator of Israel, your King.” 16 Thus says the LORD, Who makes a way through the sea And a path through the mighty waters, 17 Who brings forth the chariot and the horse, The army and the mighty man (They will lie down together and not rise again; They have been quenched and extinguished like a wick): 18 “Do not call to mind the former things, Or ponder things of the past. 19 “Behold, I will do something new, Now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert.
Things to Ponder
The LORD is determined to crush Babylon for Israel’s sake. This will demonstrate that He is the LORD, His people’s Holy One, Creator, and King. He is the One who brought them through the Red Sea, destroying the pursuing Egyptians at the same time. But the exodus is forgettable compared to what He is now going to do. He will make a road through the desert for His people as they return from captivity.
The Lord wants to do glorious things in your life, but you have to come to the place of total obedience and trust. In verse 18 He says “Do not call to mind the former things, Or ponder things of the past. First because those things represent your old life and the bondage that the Lord delivered you from. Satan will always seek to remind you of your pass so that he can gain an advantage over you again. God’s great deliverance in your life from the devil and the world is an awesome work of salvation through His Sons death, burial and resurrection. Now He wants to further demonstrate His Power to bring you out of the rough places in your life. Those places that even seem like an impossibility to overcome. Only the Lord can create a road in the desert of your life. While you are still in those places, He will make Rivers a never ending flow of water to sustain you in those hard places.
So if you have found yourself in the desert, began to humble yourself before the Lord and cry out to Him for deliverance and restoration. Jesus being our Lord, teacher and example cried out to the One who was able save He from death and He was heard because of His Godly Fear (Hebrews 5:7-10). Understand this without Humility and Godly Fear true deliverance won’t come. For this is the Way of deliverance, This is the Way of God. James (James 4:6-8).
